WJMC achieved the lowest Preventable Harm Index in the LCMC Health system, emphasizing its dedication to patient safety and quality care.
Record-breaking Surgeries:
In 2023, WJMC achieved its highest number of robotic surgeries and bariatric surgeries to date, performing an impressive 443 and 634 procedures, respectively. This exceptional feat underscores the hospital’s dedication to leveraging advanced medical technologies and providing cutting-edge surgical solutions to patients.
Significant Increases in Patient Care Metrics:
WJMC experienced substantial growth in acute discharges and emergency room visits, with year-over-year increases of 427 and 2,923, respectively. These numbers reflect the trust and reliance the community places in WJMC for their healthcare needs.
Exceptional Primary & Specialty Care Visits:
In 2023, WJMC delivered a total of 236,066 primary and specialty care visits, showcasing its commitment to comprehensive and patient-centered healthcare services.
National Recognition for Leadership:
Four leaders from WJMC were nationally recognized by Becker's Hospital Review, highlighting the caliber of talent and expertise within the organization.
Patient Satisfaction Reaches New Heights:
WJMC celebrated an increase in in-patient Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores to an impressive 73.9%. Emergency department satisfaction also soared, reaching a remarkable 74.7%.
National Accolades for Safety and Social Responsibility:
WJMC received an "A" grade for both Spring and Fall 2023 Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grades, reinforcing its commitment to patient safety. The hospital was also recognized as the #1 socially responsible hospital in Louisiana by The Lown Institute.
Government Recognitions:
WJMC achieved a 4-star overall hospital rating by The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), further highlighting its commitment to excellence in healthcare.

WJMC received certifications and designations including Pulmonary Rehabilitation Certification (AACVPR), Cardiac Rehabilitation Certification (AACVPR), Birth Ready Designation from The Louisiana Department of Health (LDH) and the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative (LaPQC), and a three-year renewal recognition for quality and safety from The American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy (ASGE).
