(Marrero, La.) November 9, 2020 – West Jefferson Medical Center celebrates another important milestone in its campus transformation effort with the opening of its new, modern Outpatient Surgery Center. In partnership with LCMC Health, the center is part of a $90 million investment at West Jefferson Medical Center that focuses on renovating the most critical healthcare areas of the facility including Endoscopy Center, Emergency Department, and our main hospital entrance.
“Patient-first care is what we strive to deliver every day,” says President and Chief Executive Officer of West Jefferson Medical Center, Rob Calhoun. “When you walk through the doors of our nearly 25,000 square foot renovated facility, it’s evident that despite this year’s challenging moments, West Jefferson Medical Center remained focused on modernizing and upgrading our campus to improve quality of care for the Westbank community.”
The newly expanded Outpatient Surgery Center was completely designed with convenience in mind. Patients in need of surgery can expect a transformative experience from the time of their arrival to when it’s time to go home, due to the beautiful, new canopy entrance that allows ease of access into our facility. On the first floor, inside the Outpatient Surgery Center, patients can find ample, spacious seating in the waiting room along with many other amenities. The most significant change is the increased number of operating rooms bringing our total to nine surgical suites. The upgrade also includes an increased number of 15 private recovery rooms and 14 PACU beds.
From a clinical perspective, the expansion nearly doubled the storage and support spaces ideal for keeping much-needed resources and supplies well within reach in the Outpatient Surgery Center. The center allows for a wide range of specialty surgeries including orthopedics, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynecology, urology, ENT, and more.
“We’ve taken extra steps to ensure that our Outpatient Surgery Center will create a comfortable, healing environment that offers unparalleled care,” says Rob Calhoun. “This renovation, along with the rest of our campus transformation, will inevitably position West Jefferson Medical Center as the premier destination for healthcare for patients and their families.”
