West Jeff Only Hospital in Louisiana to Provide HeartAware

West Jefferson Medical Center (WJMC) is launching a heart risk assessment and screening program called HeartAware

The on-line 7-minute test will evaluate a person’s risk for cardiovascular disease. At the end of the test, each individual will receive a custom report to help modify their lifestyle and become heart-healthy individuals. If the test deems a person at-risk, West Jeff can help them schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider at the Family Doctors Clinic – Oakwood location. The initial appointment is FREE of charge and includes a basic health assessment (height, weight, blood pressure screening, etc).

In offering the on-line test and screening program to the community, West Jeff hopes to accomplish the following:

1. Educate the community about cardiovascular disease.
2. Encourage screening participants to learn about their responsibility in pursuing a heart-healthy lifestyle.
3. Encourage, when appropriate, primary care and specialty care physician visits, diagnostics and treatments within WJMC.
4. Ultimately reduce cardiovascular disease within the community
