West Jefferson Medical Center (WJMC) is launching a heart risk assessment and screening program called HeartAware
The on-line 7-minute test will evaluate a person’s risk for cardiovascular disease. At the end of the test, each individual will receive a custom report to help modify their lifestyle and become heart-healthy individuals. If the test deems a person at-risk, West Jeff can help them schedule an appointment with a healthcare provider at the Family Doctors Clinic – Oakwood location. The initial appointment is FREE of charge and includes a basic health assessment (height, weight, blood pressure screening, etc).
In offering the on-line test and screening program to the community, West Jeff hopes to accomplish the following:
- Educate the community about cardiovascular disease.
- Encourage screening participants to learn about their responsibility in pursuing a heart-healthy lifestyle.
- Encourage, when appropriate, primary care and specialty care physician visits, diagnostics and treatments within WJMC.
- Ultimately reduce cardiovascular disease within the community
“It’s exciting to be able to offer a tool to our patients that will enable them to take control of their health and well-being. We’re all about keeping our patients healthy and giving them information that could potentially save their lives,” said Dr. Patricia Wright, Medical Director of the Family Doctors at West Jefferson Medical Center.
To take the test, go to our website: www.wjmc.org and click on the HeartAware button. It’s that simple. 7-minutes could save a person’s life or the life of a loved one. Isn’t that worth 7- minutes?
