WJMC and Budget Saver launch Thumbs Up Health!

West Jefferson Medical Center teams up with the Budget Saver grocery starting today and launches the new community outreach Thumbs Up Health!

The wellness program supported by health professionals in the arenas of nutrition and fitness, kicks off today at the store beginning at 11AM at 1951 Barataria Boulevard.

Due to today’s falling temperatures, activities will take place inside the store including chair exercises especially for senior citizens followed by jump rope demonstrations and a jump rope fundraiser, Christina Mamolo, says. Starting at 12 noon, the public is invited to sample a healthier king cake alternative with an eye on portion size and a reduced sugar coating, she adds. The jump rope fundraiser is just $5 per person with all proceeds benefiting the West Jefferson Hospital Foundation’s Care House project.
