“ If the experience I had in our ER is indicative of UMCNO patient care as a whole, I think we have a bright future.”

Thursday night I had the rare opportunity to experience University Medical Center as not just an employee, but as a patient. I arrived to our ER in severe pain with a dislocated shoulder. Within a matter of minutes I was placed in a room and immediately seen by Dr. Buford. (Keven-Steven Creagh Buford, MD according to my paperwork). As someone who has suffered through multiple dislocations, I was incredibly impressed that he could so quickly reduce the dislocation without assistance or medications (I hate taking any form of medication). His bedside manner would also have been hard to compete with, but my nurse Spencer (last name not on his ID) rose to that challenge. I have never seen better skill coupled with such excellent patient care. I did not expect such a positive experience at an evening ER visit, especially one as busy as ours. My husband met me at the hospital and told me he was incredibly impressed by both the facility and the staff. He said every staff member in the ER was helpful and kind. If the experience I had in our ER is indicative of UMCNO patient care as a whole, I think we have a bright future. Either way I would like Spencer, Dr. Buford, and the ER staff to know how grateful I am for the care and compassion they provided me.
