About us

Seeds of NOLA is the first of its kind in Louisiana. Rooted in principles of health equity and social justice, the center provides wraparound services to people whose lives have been disrupted by traumatic injury and violent crime, including but not limited to:

• Motor vehicle accidents

• Community violence

• Sexual assault

• Domestic violence

• Other interpersonal violence

• Work-related injuries

Eligibility

Services are available to any individual (age 13 or older) who has experienced a physical trauma, whether or not they received medical care through University Medical Center. Seeds of NOLA also serves family members and loved ones of those recovering from traumatic injury as well as individuals experiencing traumatic bereavement.

• Individual + family psychotherapy
  • Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
  • Prolonged Exposure Therapy
  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
• Support Groups
• Psychiatric medication management
• Case management
• Assertive outreach
• Legal assistance
• Violence prevention + intervention
• Community referrals.

Our team

The Seeds of NOLA team consists of case managers, social workers, psychologists, psychiatrists, violence intervention specialists, and violence interrupters who are dedicated to providing inclusive, trauma-informed care.

Using a strengths-based approach, our team works closely with other healthcare providers to maximize both mental and medical health outcomes for survivors of trauma and violence. Collaboration with community partners allows Seeds of NOLA staff to connect survivors with additional resources to support the healing process, such as education, employment, and housing assistance.

The Violence Intervention Team is made up of credible and clinically trained professionals who provide crisis intervention and support to survivors of gun violence while they are in the hospital. The team continues to work with survivors over the long term through assistance and case management to reduce the risk of further injury or violence.
