Dr. Norman McSwain had a decades-long career that saw him create a New Orleans emergency medical services system. He worked at Charity Hospital for many years and in 2016, the Level 1 Trauma Center at University Medical Center New Orleans was renamed the Dr. Norman E. McSwain Jr., MD, Spirit of Charity Trauma Center.
