Tulane Dance Medicine
Specialized care and injury prevention for dancers
The dancing athlete, regardless of level of experience or ability, needs specialized care. The dance medicine program at the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine is designed specifically for the needs of dancers, to prevent injuries and to treat them properly and promptly.
Dancing places unique demands and stresses on the musculoskeletal system, and injury is a risk. Our team is dedicated to helping professional, student and amateur dancers prevent injuries and stay in top form. When injuries do occur, we have the specialized skill and experience to treat them properly and promptly. In fact, our team members are involved in research to improve prevention and treatment of movement-related injuries.
Inexperienced dancers may not realize the limits of their own bodies or their dance partners’. Experienced professional dancers often ignore minor problems until they become chronic or disabling. We help dancers understand how to prevent injuries and how to recognize when they need to rest and seek treatment.
Experienced care for dance-related injuries
