Blood pressure cuff saves pregnant mom's life

I had a doctor's appointment with Dr. Green on Thursday, May 20, and when I got there, my blood pressure was high. They put me on a monitor, and I had to do a stress test. Dr. Green checked my blood pressure again, and it had gotten higher so, she sent me straight to the hospital.

I came to the hospital for monitoring and got released on that Friday. While in the hospital, the postpartum nurses gave me Preeclampsia (high blood pressure) education and an at-home blood pressure monitoring kit.

On Saturday, I went run errands, and at the end of the day, when I got home, my feet started swelling really bad, and my face started drooping. My step-mom told me to check my blood pressure and my blood pressure was in the 150s. The nurses told me to call them if my blood pressure got too high, and when I called them, they told me to come to the hospital immediately.

After getting together all of my stuff for the hospital, I decided to check my blood pressure again, and my blood pressure was in the 170s at this point.

On the way to the hospital, I was having seizures. When I got to the hospital, they thought I was having a stroke, so they put me on blood thinners. I was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit, and the next morning, around 6:00 am, I had another seizure. At 7:16 am my son was born.

My son, Juelz McGee, was sent to the NICU because he came five weeks early. He was born on May 23, and I didn't get to see him until May 24.

I was put on life support. I was hemorrhaging, and I had to get 5-five to six blood transfusions because my body rejected it.
I'm still finding out everything that happened to me the past couple of days, but I almost wasn't here. I almost wasn't here for my son.

When your doctors tell you to check your blood pressure, do it because anything can happen to you.
