Diabetes Support Group
While diabetes is a very common condition in the United States, that doesn't mean some extra support is unwarranted. Our diabetes support group allows people of all backgrounds to come together to cope with their emotions concerning the condition. We want our support groups open to as many individuals as possible, so we do not require registration. This support group meets once a month and is open to the public.
Cancer Support Group
Receiving a cancer diagnosis is scary. However, you don't have to go through the physical and mental struggle alone. Join our cancer support group and be introduced to people of different backgrounds, all dealing with the same condition as you. Whether you've completed treatment or are nearing the end of your treatment plan, we encourage you to join. Our cancer support group is designed to gain information on rehabilitation and receive the support you need to stay positive. Registration for this group is required.
Aphasia Support Group
Aphasia is a disorder that affects how you communicate. It can impact your speech, as well as the way you write and understand both spoken and written language. Aphasia usually occurs suddenly, often following a stroke or head injury, but it may also develop slowly as the result of a brain tumor or a progressive neurological disease. Having aphasia can make you feel lonely, isolated, and withdrawn. By joining the Aphasia Support Group at Touro, you'll find people who are experiencing similar problems and you'll be able to share your personal experiences with each other. You will also participate in therapeutic activities that help practice your communication skills.
