At Touro, we know you shouldn’t trust just anyone with helping you along your cancer journey. Our team of cancer treatment specialists continues to innovate and be leaders in the field. We focus on treating you as a whole person and not just a disease, and we continue to utilize the latest research and technology to fight cancer head-on. As a hospital that’s been around since 1852, we know a thing or two about how to care for our patients and make them feel valued and respected.

Recognized by the Commission on Cancer

Touro was proud to be awarded the 2017 Outstanding Achievement Award by the Commission on Cancer from the American College of Surgeons. This honor was only awarded to a select group of 16 U.S. accredited cancer programs for cancer surveys performed from July through December 2017. This award encourages cancer programs to raise the bar on quality cancer care as well as to increase awareness about high-quality, patient-centered care. Our cancer program was evaluated on 34 program standards categorized within the following cancer program activity areas: program management, clinical services, continuum of care services, patient outcomes, and data quality. Cancer programs were also evaluated on seven commendation standards. All award recipients received commendation ratings in all seven commendation standards, as well as a compliance rating for each of the 27 additional standards.

Gold standard for cancer care in New Orleans

Touro’s Cancer Care program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer, the Gold Standard in Cancer Care. Through our accreditation by the Commission on Cancer, Touro is recognized for providing outstanding quality care to our patients and the community. Each year Touro provides cancer education and prevention resources, and free cancer screenings for our community.
