Judah Touro Society Award

Judah Touro Society Award

The Judah Touro Society Award is Touro’s most prestigious honor which recognizes an individual or family whose continued support of Touro strengthens our community and inspires others through outstanding service. The award is presented annually by the members of the Judah Touro Society to honor exceptional contributions to Touro.

Judah Touro Society Award Honorees:

An Individual or a group of individuals whose collective service contributes to the welfare of Touro including:

  • Contributed significant acts of service, skills, and/or philanthropic support to Touro over a substantial period of time in the immediate past and/or present.
  • Held in high regard both in the community and at Touro. Honoring this individual would be appreciated by audiences both inside and outside the hospital.

The 2024 Judah Touro Society Award recipients are Susan and Lou Good.

susan and lou good

Susan and Lou Good devote their lives to giving back to the Jewish community and beyond. Their unwavering commitment to Touro serves as an example of their heartfelt and sincere dedication to the New Orleans community where many institutions and organizations are better for their experienced leadership and tireless service. Touro is fortunate to be one of these institutions.

Touro is a thread that connects generations of Goods. It began with Lou’s grandfather who oversaw the expansion of Touro’s campus in the 1960’s, but it did not end there. So important was Touro to the Goods that when Susan and Lou were married, the family gave Arkansas native Susan, life membership in the Touro Auxiliary. Susan later served as Treasurer of the Auxiliary, the organization Lou’s mother had earlier served as President. Lou served on the Touro Governing board in various leadership positions for twelve years, culminating as Board Chair, a position held years before by his father.

Susan and Lou’s devotion to Touro carries on to this day where they are long-standing members of the Judah Touro Society. They continue to give their time and energy to Touro where they served as Co-Chairs of the Judah Touro Society Award dinner in 2022. They are loyal patients of Touro as well as ambassadors for Touro, sharing stories of the great care provided by their community hospital.

The Goods know first-hand that Touro is where “babies come from”. Lou was born at Touro, as were both of their children, Jennifer and Jeffrey, and all four of their grandchildren, Ellie and Megan Zurik and Benjy and Claire Good.

We recognize Susan and Lou Good for their decades of contributions to Touro by bestowing Touro’s most prestigious honor, the 2024 Judah Touro Society Award.
