Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2022, it's estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers. Dr. Scott Sonnier, Touro Hematologist and Oncologist talks about breast cancer risk factors and the importance of getting screened.

- About 1 in 8 U.S. women (about 13%) will develop invasive breast cancer over the course of their lifetime
- Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among American women. In 2022, it's estimated that about 30% of newly diagnosed cancers in women will be breast cancers.
- Men are also at risk of being diagnosed with breast cancer. About 2,710 American men this year are expected to be diagnosed with breast cancer

- Being familiar with how your breasts look and feel can help you notice symptoms such as lumps, pain, or changes in size that may be of concern.
- For those at average risk, have a mammogram every year starting at age 40. If there are any signs of breast cancer, finding it early and treating it early may save your life.
- About 85% of breast cancers occur in women who have no family history of breast cancer.
