Touro Infirmary Now Offers UroNav: Innovative Technology for Prostate Cancer Detection

NEW ORLEANS – September 1, 2017 – Touro Infirmary is proud to introduce the UroNav fusion biopsy system, a cutting-edge option for diagnosing prostate cancer for many patients with elevated and/or rising PSA levels, to our hospital. The UroNav combines pre-biopsy MR images with ultrasound technology to better detect suspicious lesions, delineation of the prostate and clear visualization of the biopsy needle.

The MRI and ultrasound images use electromagnetic tracking for a more targeted biopsy. A tiny, navigation sensor is attached to an ultrasound probe, which generates a localized electromagnetic field to determine the location. The UroNav also provides better post-biopsy review through visualization and recording in multiple 2D and 3D views.
