Med/Surg nurse recognized for compassion and bedside manner
Lakeview Hospital , a campus of Tulane Medical Center, presented Med/Surg Nurse Jhanve Nolde with the DAISY Award for the 2nd quarter of 2022. The DAISY Award is a nationwide program that honors and celebrates the super-human work nurses do for patients and families every day. Two patients nominated her for her compassion and great bedside manner.
In nominating Jhanve, a patient wrote, "she was so polite, great bedside manners and was there when you needed her. She is awesome." A second nomination stated, "she went above and beyond, not only taking care of me physically in a super-timely fashion, but also providing me with emotional support during a really tough time in my life. I really don’t think I could have gotten over my trauma accident without her…she was truly compassionate about my getting better and my healing."
Patients, visitors, nurses, physicians, and employees are invited to nominate a Lakeview Regional nurse for the DAISY Award. The nominee should consistently model empathy and demonstrate a caring attitude in all situations; demonstrate extraordinary clinical skills in the delivery of compassionate patient care; have a positive attitude and demonstrate professionalism in the work environment; exemplify the mission, vision, and values of Lakeview Regional; and establish a special connection with the patients and families.
The family of J. Patrick Barnes established the DAISY Foundation after he died from complications of the auto-immune disease ITP in 1999. During his hospitalization, they deeply appreciated the care and compassion shown to Patrick and his entire family. When he died, they felt compelled to say "thank you" to nurses in a very public way.
You can nominate a nurse for a DAISY Award by picking up a form at Lakeview Regional or simply filling out a DAISY nomination form.
