3D mammograms and same-day results at Lakeview Regional

In honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness month this October, Lakeview Hospital , a campus of Tulane Medical Center, will offer its state-of-the-art 3D digital screening mammograms for $150 and bone density Dexa scans for $50. Every mammogram and every bone density scan include interpretation by a board-certified Lakeview Regional radiologist. A physician's order is required to schedule an appointment.

"Early detection is still the best protection against breast cancer,” said Timothy Rogers, director of radiology. "At Lakeview, we have the latest state-of-the-art screening tools to help detect cancer early, giving women clear results and the peace of mind they need, fast!" Lakeview Hospital Women's Center is the most technologically progressive hospital on the Northshore and the only facility with the equipment and staff to offer same-day results if a screening mammogram is abnormal.

According to the American Cancer Society, breast cancer remains the second most common cancer in women in the U.S., accounting for 30% of all new female cancers yearly. While breast cancer is still prevalent, death rates among women older than 50 have decreased by 1% per year since 2007. These decreases result from finding breast cancer earlier through screening, increased awareness, and better treatments.
