Comprehensive Center Accreditation
Comprehensive Center Accreditation
Outstanding care for outstanding people just like you
You have high standards. We like that. We do, too. Our bariatric center is recognized as a Comprehensive Center under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®) — a joint program of the American College of Surgeons (ACS) and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS). That’s a fancy way of saying our bariatric program meets the highest standards for patient safety and quality of care — exactly what you deserve.
What does this accreditation mean for you
Our bariatric and weight loss center is uniquely qualified to meet your complex medical and health needs. We follow the MBSAQIP standards (as outlined in the Resources for Optimal Care of the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Patient 2016) that require a multidisciplinary approach to weight loss, including preoperative and postoperative care, to deliver improved patient outcomes and higher rates of long-term success.
It’s kind of a big deal — and that’s a good thing for you!
To earn the MBSAQIP distinction, our bariatric center underwent an extensive site visit to review the center’s structure, processes, and clinical outcomes data. To keep our accreditation, we must continually meet essential criteria to ensure our ability to properly support you and other patients with severe obesity — criteria that include specific measures for staffing, training, and facility infrastructure, as well as protocols for care.
We also participate in a national data registry that yields semiannual reports on the quality of its processes and outcomes, identifying opportunities for continuous quality improvement.
With East Jefferson General Hospital, you know you’re getting the best care possible.
