About Dr. Matheney

Dr. Robert Matheney serves as Chief of Staff. He earned his medical degree from University of Arkansas. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at Tulane University and a cardiovascular fellowship with the Tulane University School of Medicine. He is board-certified in Interventional Cardiology, Cardiovascular Diseases and Internal Medicine.

Dr. Matheney has been active in the development of our peripheral vascular disease clinic. His specialties include interventional cardiology and peripheral percutaneous interventions, including coronary and renal angiography, angioplasty, stenting, atherectomy, lower extremity angioplasty, placement of permanent pacemakers and cardiac defibrillators.

Recognized by his peers for his expertise in clinical cardiology, he is active in both the state and local chapters of the American Heart Association. He also is active in educating students and residents at Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation.

The Doctor was very helpful,he explains all the questions that I asked very complete so that I would understand,he is a very competent person,he has a good bedside manner,taking his time with an elderly patient,I am so glad he is my Doctor

Yes, Dr. Matheney is a very caring and knowledgeable heart doctor. He helps me with my pressures on today. It's kind of high. And he tells me what I need to do and what I need to not do. But he's very informative and very, as I said before, knowledgeable, compassionate doctor. That's what we need today, compassionate doctors who really, really care about you. So I would give him an excellent and a top of my list doctor. So I appreciate that. You all have a good day. God bless. Good night.

He's a good doctor. He listens, listens really, really well. He knows how to make you feel comfortable when you're in his office. He's a good doctor. That's the most I can say about him. And I would definitely recommend him to anybody else. Thank you.
