About Dr. Strain
As a native of Mandeville, LA, Dr. Matthew Strain did not venture far to begin his health career, earning his medical degree from LSU Health Shreveport in 2013. Following graduation, Dr. Strain completed his general surgery internship and urology residency at the University of Tennessee Health Sciences Center in Memphis, TN, before returning to Louisiana to care for patients on the Westbank and beyond.
Today, Dr. Strain specializes in urology with a particular interest in treating BPH/enlarged prostate, erectile dysfunction, kidney stones, and urologic cancer. As he notes, “I love seeing my patients get better and get back to living the best life they can. My patients can count on me to provide extraordinary care because one of my top priorities is helping them understand everything that’s going on medically so that they are comfortable and confident with their treatment plan.”
Professionally, Dr. Strain is a member of the Louisiana Urologic Association, Southeastern Section of the AUA and American Urology Association. He lives in New Orleans with his wife.
My little something extra
I think a physician first needs to be a teacher, to help patients understand their medical condition, and feel comfortable and confident with the treatment plan.
