Dietric L. Hennings, MD

About Dr. Hennings

I am an Associate Professor and Director of Foregut Surgery at the Tulane University School of Medicine. I received my medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine and completed my General Surgery residency at Tulane University School of Medicine. I am board certified in General Surgery and have more than 12 years of experience in the field.

My specialty is foregut surgery, with a focus on treating Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease (GERD), hiatal and paraesophageal hernias, gastroparesis, and achalasia. I am affiliated with LCMC Health and East Jefferson General Hospital.

I am deeply committed to serving my community of patients through specialized surgical care while also teaching medical students and future surgery residents. It is incredibly rewarding to help patients improve their quality of life while also shaping the next generation of surgeons.

My little something extra:
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family, practicing bonsai, and advocating for meaningful change in healthcare, with a particular focus on patient rights.
