EJGH’s Brewer Named Nursing Administrator of the Year

East Jefferson General Hospital Chief Nursing Executive Ruby Brewer has been named the Nursing Administrator of the Year by the Louisiana Nurses Foundation during the group’s 16th annual Nightingale Awards held over the weekend.

Brewer earned the award, which recognizes the state’s top leader in the nursing profession, after helping mold EJGH nursing into one of the most highly-regarded in the region, including earning the hospital’s fourth Nursing Magnet Recertification this past year.

“This is a well-deserved honor for Ruby,” said EJGH President and CEO Dr. Raymond DeCorte. “Her ability to lead and motivate our nurses are second-to-none and I can’t thank her enough for what she continues to do on a daily basis.”

With nearly 40 years of nursing service to her name, Brewer has served in nursing leadership roles at East Jefferson General Hospital since 2011, driving clinical excellence and superior standards, with EJGH being ranked the No. 1 hospital in the state of Louisiana.

The Nightingale Awards ceremony is a special time when the nursing profession honors its own. The program is the “academy awards” of nursing and health care which recognizes quality service, commitment, and excellence for Registered Nurses in the state of Louisiana and institutions and employers of registered nurses that demonstrates recognition for professional nursing and innovation in leadership.
