EJGH Named Blue Distinction Center+ by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana for Knee and Hip Replacement

East Jefferson General Hospital has been recognized as a Blue Distinction Center+ for Knee and Hip Replacement by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Louisiana. Blue Distinction is a nationally designated program offered by the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association to recognize hospitals that demonstrate expertise in delivering quality specialty care. The distinction is based on nationally consistent selection criteria established in collaboration with expert physicians and medical organizations.

Research confirms that Blue Distinction Centers and Blue Distinction Centers+ demonstrate better quality and improved outcomes for patients, with lower rates of complications and readmissions than their peers. Additionally, Blue Distinction Centers+ is more than 20 percent more cost-efficient.

Since 2006, consumers, medical providers, and employers have relied on the Blue Distinction Centers of Specialty Care Program to identify hospitals delivering quality care in Bariatric Surgery, Cardiac Care, Complex and Rare Cancers, Knee and Hip Replacements, Spine Surgery and Transplants. Criteria include cost-efficiency measures, as well as more robust quality measures focused on improved patient health and safety.
