The East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation is extremely grateful to the community for its outpouring of support. Recently, our “Up on the Roof” Beer Tasting presented by Crescent Bank & Trust was a tremendous success. In addition, we are excited to let you know of other successful partnerships we have had with the community. We would like to thank specific community groups for their dedication and generosity.
First, thank you to the students, faculty, and parents at the following high schools: Academy of the Sacred Heart, Archbishop Chapelle High School, Mount Caramel Academy, St. Mary’s Dominican High School, and Ursuline Academy. They recognized and celebrated Breast Cancer Awareness throughout the month of October. The schools played volleyball games, sold t-shirts, held bake sales and raffles with the money being dedicated to the EJGH cancer program. In total, these schools raised $19,555.64! It was truly an impressive amount of work and each and every member of the schools should take great pride in their selflessness.
We would like to next thank the Christopher Gulliot Memorial Foundation. They recently held the 2nd Annual Christopher Guillot Golf Tournament and raised $3,500 in support of our Capital Campaign to expand and modernize the Outpatient Oncology Infusion Center. Chris was a high school senior and member of the football team at John Curtis High School. During his senior year, he was diagnosed with malignant melanoma. Chris passed away shortly after in March of 2010. Since that time, his parents have dedicated the foundation to cancer education and have started a skin cancer screening program for high school athletes.
Lastly, we would like to thank Martin Wine Cellar for partnering with us on a Breast Cancer Awareness program. Throughout October, they generously contributed a portion of their sales on specific wine selections with the money dedicated to our Capital Campaign. They were able to contribute $1,600 toward our fight against cancer.
Rebecca Leonard McWilliams, EJGH Foundation Director of Development says, “As a community hospital, we want to always deliver the highest level of medical care to the families in our region. To do that, we count on the community for support. We are proud that for 40 years, our community has recognized the service we provide and have contributed generously to our program. We thank everyone in Jefferson Parish and in our surrounding areas for trusting us with their support.”
