Every time the New Orleans Zephyrs take their home field this year, the medical experts of East Jefferson General Hospital will be right there with them as their official medical provider. As a community hospital, EJGH is thrilled to partner with the Zephyrs because they provide fun, family entertainment at an affordable price. Led by Zephyrs’ mascots Boudreaux and Clotile, families of our area flock to the ballpark to take in a great game to create wonderful, lasting memories.
This partnership is so special to EJGH because we get the opportunity to help keep players and fans safe should a medical emergency arise. For everyone in the ballpark, East Jefferson Emergency Medical Services (EMS) will be onsite to administer immediate care should someone need it.
An EJGH physician will also there should a player suffer an injury. The Zephyrs know that the key to getting an injured player back on the field is prompt attention, an accurate diagnosis and proper treatment and rehab. They are confident the EJGH medical staff can offer the excellence in care needed for all three.
“The Zephyrs have a long-standing relationship with EJGH and are thrilled that we have been able to enhance it as the medical provider,” says Mike Schline, New Orleans Zephyrs General Manager. “EJGH and the Zephyrs are both committed to involvement and support of the local community, so a partnership between our organizations only makes sense. This will be a great for Jefferson Parish and for our entire metro area.”
The Zephyrs are the Triple-A affiliate of the Florida Marlins and a member of the Pacific Coast League. They have been an integral part of this community since their first season here 19 years ago. In 2001, they were crowned champions of the Pacific Coast League, and they returned to the finals in 2007.
With the success over the years, the managers and players both know that championships are won with training and hard work throughout the season. That is why our partnership extends to the EJGH Wellness Center becoming the official fitness facility of the team as well. Over the course of 144 games, nagging injuries and fatigue can cripple a team’s chances of have a successful season. Our trainers and staff are looking forward to working with them so they can be as strong and healthy entering the playoffs as they were on opening day.
