LCMC Health Hospitals Nationally Recognized with High Grades for Patient Safety

All seven participating LCMC Health hospitals earned grades of “A” or “B”

Today, LCMC Health announced that seven of its hospitals have earned high Hospital Safety Grades from The Leapfrog Group, a national leader and advocate in hospital transparency. Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on over 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections as well as the systems hospitals have in place to prevent them.

All seven LCMC Health hospitals that participated in the survey ranked as an “A” or “B.” These rankings reaffirm the health system’s position among the top half of Leapfrog’s safest hospitals nationwide.

Hospitals that earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group include:

  • East Jefferson General Hospital
  • Lakeside Hospital
  • Lakeview Hospital
  • Touro

Hospitals that received a “B” Hospital Safety Grade include:

  • New Orleans East Hospital
  • University Medical Center New Orleans
  • West Jefferson Medical Center

The more notable highlights on the Leapfrog Hospital Ratings include East Jefferson General Hospital’s sixth consecutive “A” score, demonstrating its steadfast commitment to quality and patient-centered care. Additionally, University Medical Center New Orleans achieved significant improvement towards excellence by establishing robust protocols and collaborative efforts across allied health, nursing, and support services. The overall success of the health system’s Leapfrog’s journey underscores its commitment to creating a culture of safety for patients.
