Local nonprofit health system continues integration after favorable court ruling
NEW ORLEANS – Today, the U.S. District Court of the Eastern District of Louisiana ruled in favor of the LCMC Health and Tulane University partnership. LCMC Health will continue to move forward with its partnership and integration plans, bringing world-class healthcare services and economic benefits to the Gulf South. LCMC Health is pleased with the court reaffirming the value this partnership brings to the region.
"We are pleased to announce that the District Court has recognized the value of our partnership with Tulane University and upheld the State of Louisiana's approval,” said LCMC Health CEO, Greg Feirn. “Earlier this year, LCMC Health and the Attorney General Jeff Landry took a strong stance by taking legal action to safeguard this significant collaboration. This partnership underwent a thorough review and approval from the Louisiana Department of Justice, which has been validated by the court’s decision.”

- Continued commitment to the health of the entire region. LCMC Health is moving forward with its Tulane University partnership plans by offering wide-ranging benefits to the greater New Orleans area including expanded access to comprehensive and specialty care, advanced academic medicine, innovation and training, and other services and resources.
- Fully operational Emergency Department at Tulane Medical Center. To best serve the needs of the community, the Emergency Department will remain open. LCMC Health will maintain a freestanding fully operational Emergency Department in its current downtown location.
- Continued investments in hospitals and community. LCMC Health continues to make great strides in upgrading East Jefferson General Hospital to a world-class academic center of excellence. The construction includes capital investments of $220 million to prepare for clinical service lines that will transfer from Tulane Medical Center to the expanded East Jefferson General Hospital campus.
- Exciting opportunities for growth. As expansion continues, there will be more career opportunities including nursing and healthcare professional pipeline programs for current employees and future healthcare workers. All employees at Lakeside Hospital, Lakeview Hospital, and Tulane Medical Center will continue to have jobs under the new partnership.
New Orleans residents continue to support the partnership between LCMC Health and Tulane University.According to a survey conducted in April, more than 70% of greater New Orleans residents expressed positive feelings about the LCMC Health – Tulane University partnership.
