Local Community Overwhelmingly Supports LCMC Health and Tulane University Partnership

A new survey shows that New Orleans residents overwhelmingly support the partnership between LCMC Health and Tulane University. Under the partnership, Tulane Medical Center, Lakeside Hospital, and Lakeview Hospital joined the LCMC Health family of hospitals earlier in 2023.

More than 70% of greater New Orleans residents expressed positive feelings about the LCMC Health – Tulane University partnership. Other findings included*:

• 72% of respondents rate the ability to seek out healthcare service in their community as very or somewhat easy.
• 67% of respondents reported positive feelings about the quality of care provided by local hospitals.
• 79% of respondents felt positive about employees at the three Tulane University hospitals continuing to have jobs, opportunities for growth and advancement, and additional job growth in the region.
• 77% felt positive about increased investment enhancing the delivery of care, investing $1 billion into the state economy, and job creation.

Late last year, the Louisiana Department of Justice approved the partnership between LCMC Health and Tulane University. This partnership brings wide-ranging benefits to New Orleans and Southeast Louisiana by expanding access to comprehensive and specialty care, advancing academic medicine, bolstering innovation and training in the region, and providing investment and other benefits to the community.

*The survey, conducted by Survey USA, interviewed nearly 900 greater New Orleans residents between April 6 and April 14, 2023. The residents were interviewed to gauge local response to the partnership and its intent to increase healthcare access and improve quality of care throughout the greater New Orleans community. The local community responded favorably to the partnership and the enhanced quality of life it brings to the area.
