The John G. Wiegenstein Leadership Award is presented for outstanding contributions to the ACEP
New Orleans – Jay A. Kaplan, MD, FACEP has been awarded the John G. Wiegenstein Leadership Award by the American College of Emergency Physicians (ACEP). Dr. Kaplan is LCMC Health's Medical Director for Care Transformation and practicing emergency physician at University Medical Center New Orleans.
The John G. Wiegenstein Leadership Award, the highest honor given by ACEP, is presented to a current or past national ACEP leader - member of the Board of Directors or officer of the Council - for outstanding contributions to the College. The award is named after John G. Wiegenstein, MD, a founding member and the first president of ACEP. Dr. Wiegenstein represents the epitome of leadership, both personal and professional. He served for five years as the College's first delegate to the American Medical Association and is a past president of the American Board of Emergency Medicine.
“I am grateful to all emergency physicians and nurses with whom I have worked over the past 43 years, who give their heart and soul to their patients,” said Dr. Kaplan. “I am honored to be able to contribute now to LCMC Health as we create a culture of wellness and give that little something extra to our patients and our staff.” To view the virtual award presentation for Dr. Kaplan, visit HERE.
